About Me

Therapists have a reputation as being close-mouthed about themselves and the reason is simple: Therapy is about you; it is not about me. Whatever time we spend talking about me is a waste of your time. Therapy is one of the few experiences in life that is really all about you.

But I do believe that clients are entitled to know something about their therapists. In general, I'm happy to answer any questions clients have about my life and experience.

Briefly, How I Got Here

I graduated from UCLA in 1981 and went on to have a career in marketing and advertising, working in national and international corporations. After a series of life-changing events/disasters/tragedies, I went into therapy, something I never thought I would do.

I was lucky to find a great therapist on the first try, sadly he passed away and I saw a series of terrible therapists, which, oddly enough, convinced me that I could help people better than them. (I guess even bad therapy can be good sometimes.) Which in turn lead me to graduate school at Pepperdine University in Los Angeles, not exactly my choice in terms of orientation, but the best possible choice in terms of training and education.

After graduating in 1998, I did my internships at the Hollywood Sunset Free Clinic, the Hollywood YMCA and Santa Monica Elementary School. When I passed the state licensing exams, I started a private practice in Palm Springs and then, in 2008, moved back to the Los Angeles area where I feel most at home and happiest.

Of course, have left out a lot, but if it is important to you, please feel free to ask.
